| MEDITATION & RELAXATION |

To gain success, one needs to concentrate on what he or she is doing. But in our complex world, there are many obstacles to do so. Anyone's mind is vulnerable to distractions and once distracted, the efficiency decreases, and it's the time one needs to relax and meditate to focus back the run away mind.

If someone thinks it is easy to meditate, it isn't true. Meditation takes energy, time, endurance, determination and discipline. It requires human qualities to avoid bad feeling whenever possible. No doubt, that it is much easier just to draw back to sit on a sofa to watch a movie. So come the question, "why bother to waste time and force on meditation if you can enjoy without doing so? The answer is that you think you enjoy, but the enjoyment you use do distracts you, gives you more tension (sometimes even more that your work). Simply because you are human, you find yourself in the middle of unhappiness again. If you are aware of these facts, you can find answers. If you are tensioned by your busy working life, you tend to distract your mind from your work by going on a holiday, watching a movie, having a party etc. You can distract yourself for hours and day, but it always comes back after your distraction fades away when you go back to work. Workplace or home, everything concerned is filled with emotions. Emotions are like mountains. They have ups as well as downs. Once you complete a task you feel happy and contented, but that happiness lasts only until you get another task to complete. If you can realize this situation in life, it is meditation that helps you to keep you mind strong and upright to face and solve your problems in work as well as in you home life.

There really is another realm of depth and sensitivity available in life, somehow, even if you are just not seeing it. If you draw back feeling let down, you are not really touching life and are not making the full use of it. Even the awareness of uncertainty fades away, and you are back at the old square one, the same old reality. The world looks like the old, stinking place, which is boring at its best.

Life is like a continuous struggle, an enormous effort has to be launched against all these odds. And the solution to all this dissatisfaction lies within you!!! There is a syndrome called 'If only'. If only I had a car, then I would be happy. If only I can find somebody who loves me true , if only I can lose my weight, if only I had a bigger refrigerator, if only I had been in a wealthy country, and on and on forever. So where does all these feelings of distress come from? What can we do about it? It comes from the way of thinking one used to carry on. This deep, elusive and penetrating force of brain habits, keeps us continuously tensioned. If we can make use of our own mind to tackle these common symptoms of unhappiness by making them dissolve in deep happiness that is not far away from us, the world will be a different, colourful and a happier place for all living beings.

How to start meditation

Before you know the methods of relaxing, you need to find time to do so. In the busy life of today, it is not easy to schedule a specific time for relaxation and meditation. I suggest the best times foe you to start your relaxation session are either before you go to bed or as soon as you wake up in the morning. Just spend about five minutes at the start and make it a habit until you are confident of your success on controlling emotions.

Here's a simple method to relax your body and mind.

1. As soon as you wake up in the morning, drink a little glass of water (MIND YOU, NOT A BIG GLASS OF WATER!) and lie back on bed.
2. Close you eyes and start listening to sound you can hear. The sound of a cricket, a distance noise of a vehicle moving, wind blowing, birds chirping....any sound that comes across.
3. Let your mind drift away with the sounds that come into your ears.
4. After letting your mind roam for some time, bring it back.
5. Start to think about your lungs and nose trills. Think about inhaling, when you inhale a lung full of fresh air.
6. Hold your breath for about 6-7 seconds and slowly exhale taking about another 6-7 second, thinking that you are exhaling.
7. Continue this process about 3 minutes and now start thinking that all good things and solutions for all your problems come into you with the fresh air that is coming to your lungs, and with the bad air that exhaled take all your ailments and worries out from you.
8. Continue this for about 3 minutes and lie down about 2 minutes more and get up to start a fresh day of success!

If you plan to do this before you go to bed, take the same steps and you can sleep a quiet night and start a fresh day in the morning.
